BOSTON ? Boston College hired UConn assistant Luke Murray as its next men's basketball coach, turning to a championship-winning assistant after another losing season in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

In its hiring report, ESPN said Murray helped design UConn's offensive system during back-to-back national title runs and now steps into his first head coaching job.

The move followed a broader spring coaching carousel tracked by ESPN's 2026 coaching changes page, which noted that Boston College fired Earl Grant after a 4-14 ACC finish and a fifth straight season without an NCAA tournament bid.

Boston College formally introduced Murray on March 31 in an ACC Network event carried by ESPN, where he said the program would aim for a tougher and more competitive identity.

For Boston College, the hire represented another attempt to climb out of the ACC's lower tier by importing a coach tied directly to recent national championship success.
