NEW YORK ? Duke, Arizona, Michigan and Florida were named the No. 1 seeds in the 2026 NCAA men's basketball tournament on Selection Sunday, with Duke earning the top overall spot in the field.

In its live bracket report, The Associated Press said Duke would open against Siena while Arizona drew Long Island University and both Michigan and Florida waited on First Four winners.

The committee's decision aligned with the final regular-season rankings. AP's March 16 Top 25 poll had Duke at No. 1, with Arizona, Michigan, Florida and Houston making up the top five entering March Madness.

The full bracket itself was distributed through AP's official PDF bracket, which mapped the path from the First Four in Dayton to the Final Four in Indianapolis.

As usual, the seed list set off immediate debate, but it also defined the tournament's central structure: Duke at the top, with three other heavyweights placed on the one line and a crowded field chasing them.
